Deforestation in India

Forests are a source of livelihood for tribal’s. The increasing population of India, coupled with lack of integrated planning for forest management is causing a great pressure on forests. Increasing destruction and degradation of forests and trees, especially in the Himalayas and ocher hilly areas, contribute to erosion of soil. Uneven rainfall and occasional floods are also the result of depleting forests.
